Government of Andhra Pradesh State Council Of  Educational Research And Training (SCERT)
aims at establishment of a knowledge society. To achieve this capable and competent human resource is required. Quality education is pre-requisite for the development and utilization of human resources effectively. Various studies like Annual Status of Education Report (ASER), State Levels of Achievement Levels (SLAS), and National Achievement Survey (NAS) revealed that the achievement levels of students studying in the state of Andhra Pradesh are far below the expected level. These studies are based on random sampling methodology and give a fair indication of the need for finding ways to support the students and the teachers in a manner to enhance the status of achievement levels of students studying in Government and Government Aided Schools in the State. In order to develop a class specific and school specific strategy it is proposed to conducting a detailed Annual Assessment Survey during April 2015 (AAS 2015) to help find out the actual achievement levels of each student studying in Government schools of Andhra Pradesh.
    The objective of the AAS-2015
is to assess the basic skills and achievement/learning levels of the students studying in all Classes III, V and VIII in Govt., Aided, KGBV, Residential, Social Welfare, Tribal Welfare and Model Schools. It is an effort towards diagnosing the current learning levels of students in these three classes to help develop a strategy and action plan for the improvement of learning levels of the students. AAS 2015 will serve as a baseline data and will support setting realistic targets for improving the learning levels of the Students. Necessary strategies will be developed to equip and support the teachers and the schools for enhancing the performance levels of children. Target Group  The survey will be conducted to the students of classes III, V & VIII studying in Government, Local bodies, Schools managed by Welfare departments, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas and Model schools irrespective of the medium of instruction. What will be assessed?  The AAS 2015 assess the achievement/learning levels of students of classes III, V and VIII in the subjects of Mother tongue (Telugu, Urdu, Tamil, Kannada & Oriya), English and Mathematics.
