Child Care Leave (CCL) is a special leave granted by the Andhra Pradesh Government to eligible employees for taking care of their minor children. It can be availed during important situations such as:

  • Child illness or medical treatment
  • School admissions and education needs
  • Board exams and competitive examinations
  • Other essential child-related responsibilities

CCL is treated as leave with salary, subject to government rules.

AP Child Care Leave Eligibility Rules

Eligible Employees

  1. Women Government Employees of Andhra Pradesh
  2. Single Male Government Employees (widower / divorcee / unmarried) who have sole responsibility of child care

Not Eligible

  1. Married male employees (except single male category)
  2. Employees having children beyond the prescribed age limit.

Number of Children Allowed for CCL

  1. Child Care Leave is admissible for a maximum of two (2) children only
  2. Total CCL is combined for both children

Age Limit for AP Child Care Leave

  • CCL can be availed until the child attains 18 years of age
  • In case of disabled children, extended age relaxation is applicable as per government orders


Maximum Duration of Child Care Leave in AP

  • Total CCL allowed: 730 days (2 years) during the entire service period
  • Leave can be taken in one stretch or multiple spells


Pay and Salary During Child Care Leave

  • First 365 days – Full Pay (100% salary)
  • Next 365 days – 80% of Pay
  • All allowances are governed by AP Fundamental Rules and Finance Department instructions


How AP Employees Can Avail Child Care Leave

  • CCL can be taken in multiple spells
  • Normally, each spell should be not less than 5 days
  • CCL is not a matter of right and depends on administrative convenience
  • Approval of the competent authority is mandatory


Conditions and Restrictions of AP CCL

  • CCL cannot be combined with other kinds of leave
  • Should not affect public service or essential duties
  • Proper reason and justification must be mentioned
  • Generally not granted during probation, unless specifically permitted
  • Supporting documents may be demanded by the sanctioning authority
